Let’s get one thing straight, Bring Me The Horizon isn’t for everyone, then again, Deathcore as a genre isn’t either. Alas, I myself love this kind of music for whatever reason, but I bear no grudge against anyone who is adverse to screamed vocals or chugging guitar riffs. But if you bought this album expecting to be bludgeoned with heavy music loud enough to make your neighbours ears bleed, you’re in for a surprise. Suicide Season was released to wide critical acclaim and I myself love the album to bits (though not as much as their first album Count Your Blessings). Now, on the verge of a new year and a potential new album release just over the horizon (pun defiantly intended), we are greeted with ‘Suicide Season, Cut Up’ to help fill the gap. Essentially, it is a remix album, featuring several famous DJ’s and techno groups all giving their take on different songs from the original release. I need to make it perfectly clear, THIS IS A TECHNO ALBUM. Sure the guitar riffs or Oli Sykes’ screams make an appearance in the background, loosely tying the theme back to Bring Me The Horizon, but the only song on the album even remotely similar to the original in any way is Shaun Crahan of Slipknot’s remix, that merely mixes around the guitars and vocals.

Normally I don’t like techno, I find it rather irritating to be honest, but oddly enough I like this album. It has just enough influence from the original album to keep me interested, yet it is rather listenable as a complete package. I would recommend this for parties similar to the one’s I end up at, where half the crowd want’s brutal deathcore and the other is begging for synth and bass.

Overall: 7/10, won’t appeal to everyone, but it is a nice change of pace for deathcore fans.
